Tsinghua University-Migu Xinkong Culture Technology (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. Joint Research Center for Intelligent Light Field and Interactive Technology Is Inaugurated

The Inauguration Ceremony of Tsinghua University-Migu Xinkong Culture Technology (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. Joint Research Center for Intelligent Light Field and Interactive Technology (hereinafter referred to as the “Joint Research Center”) has recently been held in Tsinghua University’s FIT Building. Over 70 people, including Dai Qionghai, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Dean of Tsinghua University School of Information and Director of the Beijing National Research Center for Information Science and Technology (BNRist), and Shen Wenhai, General Manager of China Mobile Migu Company jointly unveiled the plaque of the Joint Research Center. Liu Yiqun, Director of the Research & Development Affairs Office of Tsinghua University, Ding Guiguang, Deputy Director of the BNRist, Jianhua Tao, Director of the Joint Research Center, Kuang Tiemei and Xiangyang, Deputy General Managers of China Mobile Migu Company, attended the event.

Liu Yiqun noted that metaverse technology represented by intelligent light field and interactive technology is a new generation development engine of digital economy and an important foundation for digital technology to achieve self-reliance. It is expected that the Tsinghua and the Migu team would make breakthrough achievements in the field of 6G+ metaverse technology as soon as possible, and make contributions to Chinas scientific and technological in the information field and intelligent industrial upgrading.

Dai Qionghai addresses the meeting

Dai Qionghai noted that the establishment of the Joint Research Center is in line with the major national strategy and the overall strategic requirements of the industrial chain chain chiefs of mobile information modernization. Tsinghua University and Migu Company will take the 6G+metaverse technological transformation as the starting point to tackle core challenges of the national 6G+metaverse, make breakthroughs in the key theories and technologies of intelligent light field and interaction industry, and promote the industrialization of related research results.

Shen Wenhai addresses the meeting

Shen Wenhai noted that Migu Company has innovatively put forward the concept of "new productivity content", which uses innovative information technology to generate content, boasting a broad development prospect in the future. The production capacity of metaverse new productivity contents, represented by digital person production, XR and digital space construction, is closely related to the intelligent light field technology. It is expected that the Joint Research Center will deeply integrate the resource advantages of both parties in technology and application scenarios, and work together to create an innovative model of high-standard university-enterprise cooperation.

Following the Inauguration Ceremony, the first meeting of the Management Committee of the Joint Research Center was held. The meeting deliberated on the Articles of Association and the Annual Work Plan 2023-2024 of the Joint Research Center, defined the founding mission, research contents and management regulations of the Joint Research Center, and determined the key directions and tasks for collaboration in the new year.Tsinghua University-Migu Xinkong Culture Technology (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. Joint Research Center for Intelligent Light Field and Interactive Technology has been built on the basis of the BNRist for the purpose of fully leveraging Tsinghua University's research achievements and talent advantages in combination with the industry advantages of Migu Company to closely integrate research work on artificial intelligence, light field imaging, AIGC, multi-modal content AI generation technology, distributed real-time cloud rendering, computing power network and other aspects with the field of 6G+metaverse, and promote the rapid development of science and technology and industrial applications through multidisciplinary studies, serving the national strategy of innovation-driven development.
