Tsinghua University and Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government signed a new cooperation agreement on “Tsinghua University-Fuzhou Joint Research Institute of Data Technology” on the afternoon of March 14, during the visit of Academician Qiu Yong, Party Secretary of Tsinghua University, in Fuzhou.

Academician Dai Qionghai, director of the Beijing National Research Center for Information Science and Technology (BNRist) in Tsinghua University, and Zhang Dingfeng, Member of the Standing Committee of Fuzhou Municipal Committee and Executive Deputy Mayor, signed the cooperation agreement of “Tsinghua University-Fuzhou Joint Research Institute of Data Technology”, witnessed by Qiu Yong, Lin Baojin, Member of the Standing Committee of Fujian Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee, Mayor Wu Xiande, and Guo Yong, Deputy Secretary of Tsinghua University Municipal Party Committee.

The signing of this agreement started the second phase of cooperation for the joint construction of “Tsinghua University-Fuzhou Joint Research Institute of Data Technology” by Tsinghua University and Fuzhou Municipal Government in 2017. Based on the principle of “friendly cooperation, mutual benefit, complementary advantages and common development”, on the basis of the first phase of friendly cooperation, the two sides will continue to face the major needs of China’s digital economy development and artificial intelligence industrialization upgrading, focus on the frontier problems of digital technology, and combine the advantages of Fuzhou’s regional industrial development to tackle key basic theories and key common technologies to promote the rapid and efficient development of “Digital Fuzhou”.
